Hangzhou Bay Bridge to open to traffic in June of 2008

According to the traffic department, RMB2.078billion, 103.9 percent of the annual plan, has been invested to Hangzho Bay Bridge by December.

It's learned the total investment for Hangzhou Bay Bridge is RMB11.76billion with RMB9.32RMB for main constructions. The 36-kilometer-long Hangzhou Bay Bridge is designed with the maximum speed of 120km/hour, two-way 6 lanes, and the roadbed width of 35 meters. The expropriated land is about 120 hectares. The construction of the bridge started on November 18, and the main bridge was connected in June, 2007. It's estimated the bridge will open to traffic in June, 2008. 88.6 percent of the total quantity of the construction has been completed so far. Main progresses are 100 percent of the main tower, 98.8 percent of the bridge deck overlay and 67.23 percent of the traffic engineering.
